PATRICK L. CASEY, Q.C.
As of June 30, 2018, Pat has changed his status with the NS barristers Society to a non-practicing member.
Pat was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 1977.
He has been in private practice since then, and involved in a wide variety of family law related during his career.
Pat is an experienced mediator and is a member of the Roster of Mediators for the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia (Family Division). He has also acted as a private arbitrator of family law disputes, and has completed facilitation training. Pat is a founding member of the Association of Collaborative Family Law Lawyers for the Province of Nova Scotia, and was appointed as an adjudicator of the Small Claims Court of Nova Scotia in 2003.
Pat has been active in both the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and the Canadian Bar Association, as chair of the Family Division Bench and Bar Liaison Committee, and the CBA Family Law Section, and as a member of the Discipline Committee, and various other committees. He has been an instructor at the Bar Admission course on Collaborative Law.
Pat has coached various hockey and other sports teams, and is a past board member of the Dartmouth Minor Hockey Association, and has volunteered for the Dartmouth unit of the Canadian Cancer Society.
Pat has written articles on family law related issues, and has been a guest speaker and panelist on family law presentations on various occasions.
